What Is the 10Triple (XTriple) Program? What It Treats, Explained by a Dermatologist — How 3-Line HIFU Lifting Differs from Ulthera and Ultraformer
10Triple — also called XTriple or Triple-Lined Multifocused Ultrasound at some clinics — is a non-surgical skin-lifting device that works with high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU). The feature behind its name is its 3-Line HIFU technology, which delivers ultrasound energy in 3 lines at once in a single shot, reaching down to the SMAS layer — the supporting framework of the face — to stimulate collagen production and lift the skin.
What a dermatologist would like you to understand first is that 10Triple belongs to the same group as HIFU lifting devices such as Ulthera and Ultraformer: it focuses on "lifting" the deep structure at the SMAS layer. It is not an entirely new, superior technology. Its main selling point is speed and coverage (firing 3 lines at a time makes treatment faster and denser than devices that fire one line at a time), not a new depth mechanism. This article explains how 10Triple works, what it can do, how it differs from Ulthera and Ultraformer, who it suits, whether it hurts, and what precautions apply — based on the medical evidence rather than advertising claims.

How Does 10Triple Work?
10Triple uses focused ultrasound waves to send energy safely through the upper layers of the skin and focus it at a specific depth, creating small heat points (thermal coagulation zones) at around 60–70 °C. These heat points cause existing collagen to contract immediately and stimulate the production of new collagen and elastin over the following period, so the skin gradually becomes firmer.
What sets it apart from conventional HIFU is its handpiece system:
3-Line (Bar/Line Type) — delivers energy in 3 lines at once in a single shot; for example, 200 shots equal 600 lines. This allows wide areas to be covered faster and more densely than with devices that fire one line at a time, making it suitable for placing energy across the facial contour and cheeks.
Pen Type (3 Dot) — a dot-type tip for detailed areas such as around the eyes, the brows and angles that require precision.
Cartridges chosen by depth — tips are available at several depths (e.g., the dermis, the fat layer and the SMAS layer), allowing the doctor to place energy at the layer that needs treatment.
HIFU results are gradual, following new collagen production — not an immediate change like surgery.
What Can 10Triple Do?
10Triple is mainly used for lifting and contouring the face. Commonly treated areas include:
Lifting cheeks and a facial contour that has started to sag, helping the jawline look sharper and slimmer
Reducing a double chin and firming the under-chin and neck
Lifting the brow tail and firming around the eyes with the dot-type tip
Reducing fine to moderate wrinkles and firming the skin through collagen stimulation
What should be understood from a medical standpoint is that 10Triple focuses on lifting through collagen stimulation in the deep layers. Although some effect on reducing the fat layer has been claimed, this is only a secondary effect, not the main purpose, and it does not replace direct fat-reduction methods. People with significant fat accumulation or severe sagging should be assessed by a doctor to plan an approach that matches their actual concern.
How Is 10Triple Different from Ulthera and Ultraformer?
All three devices belong to the same HIFU (focused ultrasound lifting) family and reach down to the SMAS layer. They differ in the details:
10Triple (3-Line HIFU) — its key feature is firing 3 lines at once in a single shot, so it works quickly and covers wide areas fast. It is a newer device on the market.
Ulthera / Ultherapy (MFU-V) — its key feature is real-time ultrasound imaging guidance (DeepSEE), which lets the doctor see the skin layers before delivering energy, and it is the device with the longest record of research support and FDA clearance in this group.
Ultraformer III (MMFU) — a multi-depth HIFU that is widely used and has a long track record in Thailand, covering both lifting and skin-quality treatments.
A point the doctor would like you to consider frankly is that 10Triple is newer and has less independent research behind it than Ulthera and Ultraformer, which are widely used and have more long-term data. Firing 3 lines at a time helps with speed, but results and safety depend on appropriate energy, the right number of shots and the doctor's expertise more than on the number of lines per shot. A device therefore should not be chosen based on the words "3 lines" alone.
HIFU is also different from RF lifting devices (Thermage, Oligio X, XTherma), which use radiofrequency to spread heat through the dermis to tighten the skin. Many people who have both deep facial sagging and a loss of skin firmness often get better results when HIFU is combined with RF according to a plan designed by the doctor, rather than picking one device based on trends.
Who Is 10Triple Suitable For?
It is suitable for people whom a doctor has assessed as having:
Mild to moderate sagging of the skin and facial structure, especially the cheeks, jawline, double chin and under-chin area
Early age-related wrinkles and laxity, and who want preventive careA wish for non-surgical lifting with minimal downtime, and who are comfortable with gradual results
On the other hand, people with severe sagging or a lot of excess skin may get limited results from HIFU, and a surgical facelift may better meet their needs. Those who are pregnant, or who have an infection or wound in the treatment area, should postpone treatment. The doctor will assess whether your concern suits HIFU or whether another method, or a combination of methods, is more appropriate.
Who Should Be Cautious or Inform the Doctor Before Treatment
For your safety, please inform the doctor before treatment if you have any of the following:
Pregnancy or breastfeeding
An infection, inflamed rash or wound in the treatment area — this should be treated and healed first
Metal or implanted devices in the face, or recent filler injections/other procedures in the same area — inform the doctor and allow an interval as advised
A history of raised scarring (keloids) or certain skin conditions — these should be assessed individually by the doctor
Because HIFU delivers energy deep, close to nerve and muscle layers, energy placed in the wrong position may in some cases cause temporary numbness or muscle weakness. The doctor's expertise and accurate placement of energy at the correct layer are therefore important for safety. Choosing to be treated by a doctor at an accredited medical facility is the most important consideration.
Does 10Triple Hurt? How Long Is the Recovery?
A numbing cream is usually applied beforehand for comfort. During treatment you may feel a deep, rhythmic heat where the energy reaches the SMAS layer, which is a normal sensation with HIFU. The whole session takes about 20–30 minutes, depending on the area.
After treatment:
You may have slight redness or a feeling of tightness at first, which usually settles on its own within a few hours
Some people may have mild swelling or tenderness temporarily
In general, you can return to daily activities right away; it is considered a low-downtime procedure
You should apply sunscreen and moisturize as advised by the doctor
When Will I See Results from 10Triple, How Long Do They Last, and How Many Sessions Are Needed?
Right after treatment: many people feel the skin is slightly firmer as existing collagen contracts
2–3 months: results become clearer as new collagen gradually forms; the skin feels firmer and the facial contour looks sharper
Duration: results usually last about 6–12 months or longer, depending on age, skin condition and aftercare
Number of sessions: a course is usually recommended, 3 or more sessions, about 1–3 months apart, followed by periodic maintenance, since the skin continues to age
As for the appropriate number of shots, it varies by brand and by individual and cannot be compared directly between devices. It should be determined by the doctor based on your actual skin condition — more is not always better.
