Skin Cancer Screening and Treatment in Bangkok

Early detection of skin cancer is life-saving. Melanoma is treatable when caught early but can be fatal when advanced. Basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas are far more common and curable when diagnosed promptly. Periodic skin cancer screening is recommended for anyone with risk factors (fair skin, sun exposure history, family history, atypical moles, immunosuppression) and for evaluation of any new or changing skin lesion.

Siam Dermatology in Samut Prakan (Bangkok area) provides skin cancer screening with dermoscopy, skin biopsy when indicated, and surgical excision. Led by Dr. Patara Voravutinon, MD, Diplomate of the Thai Board of Dermatology. Formerly Dr. Pat Skin Clinic.

Why see a board-certified dermatologist

Skin cancer screening requires expertise in dermoscopy and lesion morphology that goes well beyond a general physician visit. A board-certified dermatologist examines pigmented and non-pigmented lesions with dermoscopy, identifies subtle features of early melanoma and basal cell carcinoma, and decides whether biopsy is warranted. Aesthetic clinics typically do not perform medical-dermatology screening — they are not equipped or trained to identify skin cancer reliably.
